just the beginning
Well here we go, my first blog post! I am a late bloomer to the field of instructional design, already 46 and just beginning my career, I must be crazy…As I dive into this amazing, collaborative, intriguing, awe-inspiring rabbit hole of knowledge, I am looking for any and all opportunities to learn. I feel like I am playing catch-up in so many ways. DigPINS seems like a great way to grow community and learn from a fantastic experienced group of friends. The four terms, Pedagogy, Identity, Networks, and Scholarships seem to me to be the essence of instructional design, so here I am!

I will say that the Pedago.me group has been a very safe and supportive transition point. Everyone that I have met is incredible – I appreciate their openness and willingness to collaborate. In the first week of DigPINS we have shared our work space:
Created a Visitor & Resident map:

And had an amazing conversations both live and through Slack.
my first blog post
So now my final contribution to the first week, my first blog post ever. I don’t think I have spent much time cultivating a digital persona. I’m a lurker on Facebook, I post very little. Twitter intimidates me as I really struggle to follow the conversation without getting lost down a side road and not knowing how to get back. I’m a pretty private person for the most part, and I worry too much about screwing something up. I feel like you must be willing and able to put yourself out there and make mistakes. I honestly don’t know if I am ready or able to do that. I don’t know who I am online or if I have really left any social trace. I guess this is my opportunity to push outside my comfort zone and establish that digital persona, allow for context collapse, and be vulnerable. I feel I have already grown in my understanding of digital identity and I am excited to see what the next few weeks will bring.
